CPS Fundraiser with The Palmer Squares & SocialWorks on Friday, 9/15!

Join us for a phenomenal night of local music with The Palmer Squares and Netherfriends on Friday, September 15! Show kicks off at 9pm and there is NO cover as always on the Logan Stage. Plus, this show will benefit CPS as we are partnering up with Social Works, Chance the Rapper’s Youth Empowerment Charity. Come by for a night of free (killer) music, buy some raffle tickets and help a child in need!
A little more about The Palmer Squares:
What originally began as an inside joke amongst high school friends, unexpectedly morphed into a legitimate hip-hop duo that has now garnered praise from some of the most respected veterans in the game. One day after school, despite never having the urge to pen a verse before, Acumental and Term conspired amongst themselves to poke fun of the prevailing trends. After sharing these ridiculous parodies with their close friends, they were showered with the anticipated laughs, but also received an overwhelming, unexpected response they could have never foreseen: “write more; this is amazing!” Thus, The Palmer Squares were born.

Art Opening for Cass Fuller

Posted by Events No Comment yet

Meet our new June/July resident artist, Cass Fuller! As a means to explore the deep roots of art to nature, Cass creates abstract paintings and drawings from photos and memories of natural and suburban Texas landscapes. Her work aims to construct a two-dimensional permanent environment from existing ephemeral locations as a way to dissolve the difference between real space and painted space. The goal of this work is to push the plasticity of paint as a medium to explore the free and airy forms and notions of nature, testing the limits of both what paint can do, and how nature can be remade or constructed by the artist.

The opening for Rachel’s work is on Friday, June 16 at 7pm. Her work will be shown at Logan for the month following.

Art Opening for Rachel Speakman

Meet our May resident artist, Rachel Speakman! She is currently an undergraduate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago studying sculpture and painting, focusing her work on bringing together the natural sciences and fine art. Her current painting series explores birds as ancient symbols but also capturing their ephemeral nature, while often sourcing her images from dreams and past experiences. They are closely tied to climate change and the extinction of species, meditating on the idea that they will only live on as faint memories.
