We are very excited to welcome our newest resident artist for the month of January/February! We are featuring the incredible Erin Smego, who is also a bartender at Logan!
Smego lives and works in Chicago.
She is a sculptor and painter who works mainly with lumber and spray paint. She draw ideas from people’s personalities and emotions; curiosity lies in what really makes people tick. Subjects she engages in include: persistence, awkwardness, peculiarity, embarrassment, embracing, gripping, falling (apart), isolation, separation, emptiness, hyper-optimism, and vulnerability. Elements of playfulness sometimes appear, and color (or lack of) is used to reflect emotion.
Smego received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Erin has exhibited in the United States including the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in New York, New York 2014; Square Foot Art Basel Miami 2015; The Fulton Street Collective in Chicago 2013; The Greenpoint Gallery in Brooklyn 2014, Eighteen O Five in San Diego and more. In 2016 Smego was awarded the Edna L. Cushing Annual Memorial Prize in Elements of Abstraction a juried show at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild and Collective in Clayton, Missouri.
We hope you’ll stop in to check out her amazing work! For more on the artist: http://colorsnob.com/
