Meet our May resident artist, Rachel Speakman! She is currently an undergraduate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago studying sculpture and painting, focusing her work on bringing together the natural sciences and fine art. Her current painting series explores birds as ancient symbols but also capturing their ephemeral nature, while often sourcing her images from dreams and past experiences. They are closely tied to climate change and the extinction of species, meditating on the idea that they will only live on as faint memories.

The opening for Rachel’s work is on Wednesday, May 3rd at 8pm.
Check out work by our March/April resident artist, Abdullah Quick, through the end of April. He is both a visual artist as well as a photographer, and he’s currently studying art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
His work is inspired by the simple things of modern day living. He captures these moments with his lense or with his imagination.
His work will be up for sale at Logan all from now til the end of April. His website is: http://quickfreelances.com. Find him on Instagram: @quickfrelances
